We couldn't do it without you!
Like the swimmers, support crews and everyone involved in making the South32 Rottnest Channel Swim happen each year, volunteers are a huge part of why it’s so iconic!
From land-based volunteers to on-water race officials, we couldn’t do it without the help of generous, passionate community minded people who volunteer their time to make the athletes and everyday heroes who enter the Event, feel like rockstars!
We’ve got lots of exciting and rewarding roles to fill, both at the Event Briefings and on Event Day, including Team Leaders to manage our groups of volunteers.
You won’t leave empty-handed or hungry…
All volunteers will get an official Volunteer Shirt, volunteer hat, and water bottle to wear/use at the briefing and on Event Day, which you get to keep.
If you help at the start line, you’ll be provided with a breakfast pack.
If you help out at the finish line, you’ll be provided with lunch and a return ferry ticket to Rottnest Island (Wadjemup).
Age Requirement:
You need to be 16 years or over (on the day of the Event) to register as a General Volunteer. If you are under the age of 18, permission from a legal guardian will be required.

Volunteer Briefings
Don’t worry if you don’t have experience or previous participation in the Event – we’ll tell you everything you need to know. There’ll be a compulsory volunteer briefing at 10.00am, Saturday, 17 January 2026.
The volunteer briefing covers everything to do with the event, including volunteer duties both for the lead-up events and event day. It’s also a great opportunity to meet the event team and fellow volunteers. Check out our pre-event section to find out more about key dates and volunteer preparation.
