The updated conditions for Saturday’s swim are very promising and should see a fantastic day on the water. There are predicted very light winds (8 km/h) throughout the morning before increasing over the course of the afternoon to a relatively gentle to moderate seabreeze. There will be very little swell throughout the day, with a maximum of 1 metre. The weather will be partly cloudy with a maximum of around 24 degrees at Cottesloe.
Charitha Pattiaratchi, Professor of Coastal Oceanography at UWA, has kindly created an ocean current forecast for the Rottnest Channel Swim. The forecast for tomorrow is active and can be found at: http://coastaloceanography.org/ – make sure you select the correct date and click the tab for ‘surface currents’.
