My Big Day out is not far away ... paddlers are needed for 10 January!

I painted my nails plum red for that 10km swim at Champion Lakes, hey. Problem was, tho, that I couldn't see past my elbows when my arms entered the water, because the water so so green. Needless to say, u can't help but take in some of the water ur swimmin in when you are chugging out 10k, and I spent the next 3 days with a funny tummy. Never again!
Training has been crazy. 10k sets with Anna, Bruce, Waz, Pete, Maryanne on 1.30 cycles. This morning we did some sets on a 1.20 cycle. Yup, it hurt. Even with the paddles on. Still training in the gym with Dan (my PT) twice a week. He's been fantastic, putting up with all my dramas and goings on, even coming in over the Xmas break.
The 5k at Mullaloo was great, overall. I went out too hard in the first lap and was pretty much swimming on the spot towards the back end of the 2nd lap, when I recognised some feet. These were Jon's feet, who I used to train with 4 years ago. Of all the people out there, I see Jon's feet and think, ok, relax, stay with those feet... which is what I did for the last 2 laps. I thanked Jon for the loan of his feet after the race and he said he knew it could only have been me touching his toes the whole way!
Last weeks Bicton 5k swim was good, I need new goggles though - I was the lead swimmer in a pack of 6 and in addition to my usual cap and hair dramas, (I ended up losing my race cap - again) I couldn't see where I (or we, actually) were going. Certainly wasn't the quickest route, that's for sure.
I have an all day trip planned and approved for Saturday 10 January. It's gonna come around fast. Plan A is a double crossing... for which I need a couple of paddlers...so if you can help, can you give me a call on 0425344839. There is no Plan B, and Mark, my boat guy, has said the rules are that if I start, I finish. Them the rulez. So I've got my fingers xx with the weather. This is also mostly Marks idea, he put it into my head a couple of years ago...I have a great lot of friends (and, it goes without saying, my family, even tho Mum doesn't know & no-one's allowed to tell her!) to thank for getting me this far and I'm sure they'll get me to Rotto and back on 10 January too...Although no one has come out and said "this is a great idea, lets all go out and do it" they are behind me 100%! When I was at Barbagellos getting my car fixed last week, the chaplain from RPH was there and he said they had a psychiatric unit at the Hospital I might like to check into after I told him what I was planning!
So it's back to the pool this arvo for another sess and Anna has 10k planned for tomorrow morning... I am looking forward to next weeks taper for sure!
